I searched the Internet and found some pieces of info about these lovely animals.

  • Latin name: Lemniscomys barbarus.
  • Also named Barbary Striped Grass Mouse, found and named by Linnaeus in 1766.
  • They live wild in Marocco to Tunisia, Senegal to Sudan and Tanzania. This particular species of Striped Grass Mice prefer the dry savannahs and steppes on the border of the Sahara.
  • Most individuals die at the age of around 6 months in the wild, but can live for several years in captivity.
  • They eat grass, soft seeds, cultivated crops and some insects now and then in the wild.
