Aquarium

Denna sida på svenska

I've always liked aquaria since I as a child was given a small glass jar with two guppies and a small plant. Within two weeks there was three little fish inside the glass jar - they had a baby fish. Then I was hooked and soon I was breeding fish of various kinds for many years until one of my aquaria broke and I had a lot of water on the floor... I managed to save all the fish, but stopped keeping aquaria for several years.

But then in 2005 I couldn't keep myself from keeping fish anymore... The reason for that was my friend who kept on talking about those Endlers that I had never even heard of before. So I bought an aquarium on the 5th of December 2005. It is 54 Liters, 60x30x30 cm. I bought it in a package, with pump, heater, thermometer, lighting, and the aquarium in a box, at the closest pet shop. I think it was quite cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Plants in the aquarium

I have had aquaria before so I know fairly well which plants I like best. I also know which plants I can usually get to thrive and which will probably die.. That makes it much easier to buy plants!

Generally I like plants that are easy to grow and that grows fast so the aquarium do not look the same all the time. These plants are usually cheap, and the kind of fish I like also like these plants.

Fish in the aquarium

I have a general rule, and that is no big fish in a small aquarium. This means that I mainly keep small fish, since I never had a really big aquarium. I usually keep fish that are easy to breed and do not fight.

Snails

I also have three different species of small aquarium snails, and I am looking for more different kinds of snails, as long as they are small.

Plans for the future

I mainly have livebearing fish at the moment, and I really do like that type of fish, but I am planning to keep some more killis too.

I have actually kept and bred a variety of fish through the years, tetras, rasboras, cichlids, and livebearer's.
